Over the course of the engagement I conducted comprehensive accessibility audits and implemented WCAG compliance improvements across the entire platform, significantly improving the experience for diverse international audiences. I also led extensive performance and speed optimization efforts including critical CSS inlining, WebP image conversion, asset pipeline improvements, media element optimization and intelligent caching strategies that improved page load times across all subsites.
I developed and maintained custom Gutenberg blocks, managed parent/child theme architecture, and handled all deployments through the Pantheon hosting environment. I worked extensively with PHP 8.0+, WP CLI, webpack, npm and modern development workflows, releasing multiple versioned theme updates throughout the engagement.
Beyond technical work I integrated third party services including Salesforce, Firebase and mobile app embedding configurations. I also handled WordPress core upgrades, plugin management and ongoing platform stability for a high traffic international affairs website.
Throughout the engagement I was the sole developer with deep knowledge of the entire codebase, providing continuity and technical leadership during a period of significant organizational change.
